The Tale of Shadow Forest: Afterthoughts

As a kid, I loved Grim Fairy Tales; I still adore them. I was inspired to write The Tale of Shadow Forest as part of my long-long term project of building up a fictional history. This would naturally include literature and myths. While many of the greats including their myths or histories as part of the textual background, such as Lord of the Rings or Dune. I wanted to try something a little different; I wanted to show the history of Iris unfolds before the reader. Such as what Tolkien was, such going for with his expanded collection of novels and history books on Middle Earth. The Tale of Shadow Forest is the first, with a few novel-length projects such as Emerald Baptism and Parable of the Gods (hopefully) coming soon.

The Tale of Shadow Forest serves multiple purposes; the first is a warning, and those who read it should be able to get the warning. The second is a simplistic depiction of how dynasties can crumble and how cruelty can be justified. The third reason is how stories can ultimately reflect the culture that created them.

The Tale of Shadow Forest was the first of the stories I aimed to publish, but it was never accepted. I decided to release it to the public instead of keeping it in the trunk. I want to put more of my work out there for public scrutiny. It makes no sense to keep this hidden.

So without further ado, I hope you enjoy The Tale of Shadow Forest on Royal Road. Please consider donating or subbing to my Patreon cause this stuff isn’t cheap, and I look forward to releasing The Pale-Black Maiden asap.
